Moringa (Moringa oleifera) is a fast-growing tree native to India and parts of Africa, and its leaves are among the most nutrient-dense greens in the world. This is a 10:1 concentrated leaf extract powder — not simply dried, milled leaf.

The leaves carry vitamins A, B1, B2, B3, B6, C and E, calcium, iron, magnesium and potassium, plus protein containing all nine essential amino acids. They also contain polyphenols and flavonoids including quercetin and chlorogenic acid. We source certified organic leaves harvested at peak density and extract gently, so the colour stays deep green rather than khaki.

  • 10:1 concentrated leaf extract
  • Contains all nine essential amino acids
  • Naturally rich in polyphenols and flavonoids
  • 100% pure leaf — no fillers, additives or GMOs
  • Organic, vegan, Halal, Kosher. Made in Canada from imported ingredients
  • Third-party tested for heavy metals — COA on this page
  • Sizes: 36 g, 100 g, 250 g

Who it's for: smoothie makers who want something greener than spinach powder, and anyone building a daily plant-nutrition habit. If you would rather skip the taste, the same extract comes in moringa capsules.

How to use: Start with 1/2 teaspoon and work up to 1 teaspoon. Mix into smoothies, juice, yogurt, oatmeal, soups or sauces. The flavour is mild and grassy, a lot like matcha with a peppery finish.

A tree is planted with every Ecogenya order.

Fruiting body vs Mycelium and Spores

There is a lot of discussion around which parts of the mushroom should be used for extraction. Here is a short explanation:
In mushrooms, the part that is typically used for extracting nutrients and compounds is the fruiting body, which is the visible part of the mushroom that emerges above ground. This is because the fruiting body contains most of the bioactive compounds, including vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and other beneficial substances.

The fruiting body is rich in nutrients and bioactive compounds because it is where the reproductive structures of the mushroom develop. These structures contain various substances that the mushroom needs for growth and reproduction, as well as compounds that help defend against pathogens and predators.

However, it's worth noting that different parts of the mushroom may have different nutritional profiles and concentrations of bioactive compounds. For example, some mushrooms also produce mycelium, the underground network of fungal threads, which can also contain valuable nutrients and compounds. Additionally, certain species of mushrooms may have medicinal properties associated with specific parts of the organism, such as the mycelium or even the spores. Therefore, the specific part of the mushroom used for extraction can depend on the desired nutrients or compounds and the intended use.

We always use the fruiting body for our extracts but we are also working on developing special compound extracts from other parts like the mycelium and spores. Keep an eye on our blogs and subscribe to our newsletter to get notified of these advancements as they happen.

Extraction/Production Process

Moringa leaf extract is made by drying moringa leaves, grinding them into powder, and using solvents like water, ethanol, or methanol to extract nutrients and bioactive compounds. The liquid is filtered, concentrated, and dried to create a nutrient-rich extract in powder or liquid form.

Botanical Information

Moringa, commonly known as the drumstick tree, belongs to the species Moringa oleifera in the genus Moringa, family Moringaceae. It's a fast-growing, drought-resistant tree native to India and tropical regions. Known for its nutrient-rich leaves, it thrives in semi-arid, tropical, and subtropical climates.
