Several years ago, I was a happily married man with four children. I had a successful business and although I had the same ups and downs as you probably have, life was pretty good. Then, one day on my way to my shop, I was involved in a violent car accident that left me unable to work or to do the things I loved. Soon after, I was diagnosed with cancer and my life as I knew it was over. My wife couldn't deal with my injuries and inability to contribute, and I was soon separated, then divorced. I pretty much lost everything that I had worked so hard to achieve and that I loved so dearly. At least that was the case for a while...
The solution from the doctors was to take painkillers and cover up the pain. Like so many others, I became addicted and my life tumbled further into a downward spiral.
It wasn't until I discovered the power of nature that I was able to begin my long, gradual, but steady recovery.
I began to research many botanicals that humans have been using for centuries. Before pharmaceuticals, natural healing was the only option. I was especially interested in mushrooms and I read about all of the scientific research that showed how powerful they were. I'm not talking about psychoactive or hallucinogenic mushroom, but medicinal ones.
I started to take Lion's Mane mushroom extract and it wasn't long before I started to notice a difference in many things about myself, especially the psychological things. I was not ruminating as much and my anxiety and depression was surprisingly reduced.
I buried my head in books and scientific papers as well as anecdotal evidence and I added a new botanical about every month. Soon I began to realize that I could do this. I could get through this hell that I was living in and start over.
A few years later I am happy to say that my cancer is in remission, my addiction is gone, and I am continuing to heal, even if it's just a little bit each day.
Now I have made it my mission to share what I've learned with others. That's why I started Ecogenya and Fantastic Fungi.

Ecogenya is the Greek word for "Family". That's the basis and the vision and the direction of this small family business. I've learned that, in some way, we are all family.
Sometimes, the tragedies we experience are what we need to move forward. I know that, for me, the houses and cars and money was not truly fulfilling. Now I have satisfaction and joy every single day.
I know that you probably have a story that, to you, is just as important and relevant. I pray that you have as much healing and health and happiness as you can handle. :)
