Turmeric (Curcuma longa) is the rhizome behind curry's colour, and curcumin is the compound doing most of the work in it. Raw turmeric root is only around 3% curcumin. Ours is a standardised extract at 95%.

Curcumin is also notoriously hard for the body to absorb on its own, which is why we include piperine, the active compound in black pepper, in every capsule. It is the same pairing that traditional cooking arrived at long before anyone measured it. Two capsules give you 1200 mg of extract daily, in vegan capsules. Made in Canada from imported ingredients.

  • 600 mg per capsule, 2 capsules per day (1200 mg daily)
  • Standardised to 95% curcumin
  • Includes piperine (black pepper extract) to support absorption
  • Certified organic turmeric root
  • Vegan capsules — no gelatin, fillers or GMOs. Made in Canada from imported ingredients
  • Third-party tested for purity and potency — COA on this page
  • Supply sizes from one to six months
  • NPN 80140969

Who it's for: people who want a high-strength standardised extract rather than culinary turmeric powder, and anyone comparing labels who wants to see the curcumin percentage stated.

How to use: Adults: 2 capsules daily with food. A meal containing some fat suits curcumin well.

Recommended use: Source of antioxidants for the maintenance of good health.

Turmeric is botanically classified as Curcuma longa, a member of the Zingiberaceae (ginger) family, and is native to the tropical regions of Southeast Asia. This vibrant yellow-orange root, long prized in Ayurvedic and Traditional Chinese Medicine, thrives in warm, humid climates where rich soil nurtures its potent curcumin content.

Para mascotas

While turmeric is used for human nutrition, some holistic veterinarians may recommend turmeric supplements for pets. However, always consult your veterinarian before giving turmeric or any new supplement to your pet, as dosage needs and safety can vary based on their size, health condition, and breed.

Anti-Inflammatory Effects of Curcumin in the Inflammatory Diseases: Status, Limitations and Countermeasures

Curcumin, the active compound in turmeric, exhibits significant anti-inflammatory properties beneficial in managing diseases like inflammatory bowel disease, arthritis, psoriasis, depression, atherosclerosis, and COVID-19. However, its clinical application is limited due to poor bioavailability. Strategies such as combining curcumin with piperine or developing nano-formulations are being explored to enhance its therapeutic efficacy.

Curcumin: A Review of Its’ Effects on Human Health

Curcumin, the primary polyphenol in turmeric, offers numerous health benefits due to its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. It aids in managing conditions like metabolic syndrome, arthritis, anxiety, and hyperlipidemia, and helps reduce exercise-induced inflammation, enhancing recovery and performance. However, curcumin alone has poor bioavailability, which can be significantly improved by combining it with agents like piperine, the active component in black pepper, increasing absorption by up to 2000%. Even at relatively low doses, curcumin can provide health benefits for individuals without diagnosed health conditions.

Curcumin on Human Health: A Comprehensive Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of 103 Randomized Controlled Trials

A comprehensive meta-analysis of 103 randomized controlled trials involving 7,216 participants evaluated curcumin's effects on various health outcomes. The study found high-certainty evidence that curcumin supplementation significantly improves fasting blood sugar, C-reactive protein levels, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, and body weight. Moderate-certainty evidence indicated benefits for waist and hip circumference, body mass index, insulin levels, insulin resistance, leptin, gamma-glutamyl transferase, glutathione, and superoxide dismutase. The authors recommend well-designed, long-term trials with larger sample sizes to confirm these findings
