An even 50/50 blend of broken cell wall chlorella and spirulina — the two algae most people end up buying anyway, in one jar.

They cover different ground. Chlorella is the chlorophyll one, and its tough cellulose cell wall is mechanically broken so the contents are actually available to you. Spirulina brings complete protein, B vitamins, iron and phycocyanin, the blue pigment. Both are grown in Hawaii in freshwater pools fortified with deep-sea mineral water and dried with a very low heat (VLT) process rather than high-heat spray drying, then tested and packed in Ontario.

  • 50/50 chlorella and spirulina
  • Broken cell wall chlorella
  • Very low heat (VLT) drying process
  • Complete protein with all nine essential amino acids
  • Chlorophyll, phycocyanin, B vitamins, iron and beta-carotene
  • 100% pure — no fillers or additives. Organic, vegan, non-GMO
  • Made in Canada from imported ingredients
  • Third-party tested for heavy metals — COA on this page
  • Sizes: 36 g, 100 g, 250 g, 500 g, 1000 g
  • NPN 80136437

Who it's for: daily smoothie drinkers who want both algae without measuring two powders. Prefer no taste? The same 50/50 ratio comes in tablet form.

How to use: Start with 1/2 teaspoon daily and build to 1 to 2 teaspoons. Mix into smoothies, juice or water. It tastes strongly green — banana, mango or berries smooth it out considerably.

Recommended use: Source of antioxidants.

Fruiting body vs Mycelium and Spores

There is a lot of discussion around which parts of the mushroom should be used for extraction. Here is a short explanation:
In mushrooms, the part that is typically used for extracting nutrients and compounds is the fruiting body, which is the visible part of the mushroom that emerges above ground. This is because the fruiting body contains most of the bioactive compounds, including vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and other beneficial substances.

The fruiting body is rich in nutrients and bioactive compounds because it is where the reproductive structures of the mushroom develop. These structures contain various substances that the mushroom needs for growth and reproduction, as well as compounds that help defend against pathogens and predators.

However, it's worth noting that different parts of the mushroom may have different nutritional profiles and concentrations of bioactive compounds. For example, some mushrooms also produce mycelium, the underground network of fungal threads, which can also contain valuable nutrients and compounds. Additionally, certain species of mushrooms may have medicinal properties associated with specific parts of the organism, such as the mycelium or even the spores. Therefore, the specific part of the mushroom used for extraction can depend on the desired nutrients or compounds and the intended use.

We always use the fruiting body for our extracts but we are also working on developing special compound extracts from other parts like the mycelium and spores. Keep an eye on our blogs and subscribe to our newsletter to get notified of these advancements as they happen.
