Mushroom Dosage for Dogs by Weight: How Much to Give (Simple Chart)

One of the most common questions dog owners ask about functional mushrooms is simply: how much do I give? The honest answer is that it depends on your dog’s weight and the product you are using – but there is a simple, safe way to get it right. Here is a clear by-weight guide, plus how to introduce mushrooms and what to watch for.

Always check with your vet before starting any supplement, especially if your dog is on medication or managing a health condition.

The simple rule: dose by body weight

Functional mushroom extracts for pets are dosed by your dog’s weight, not a flat amount. For all of Ecogenya’s pet mushroom products, the daily serving is:

One level scoop per 5 kg (about 10 lb) of body weight, once daily.

Each product includes a scoop, so you are not guessing. Here is how that works out:

Dog’s weight Daily amount
Up to 5 kg (10 lb) 1/2–1 scoop
5–10 kg (10–20 lb) 1 scoop
10–20 kg (20–45 lb) 2 scoops
20–30 kg (45–65 lb) 3 scoops
30–40 kg (65–90 lb) 4 scoops
40 kg+ (90 lb+) 4–5 scoops

Cats follow the same by-weight logic – most cats take about half a scoop daily.

Start low and go slow

For the first week, start with half the target amount and build up. This gives your dog’s digestion time to adjust and makes it easy to spot the (rare) dog who is sensitive to something new.

How to give mushroom powder to a dog

The easiest way is to mix the powder into wet food, a topper, or broth, where the mild flavour disappears. For picky eaters, a little goat milk, bone broth, or a functional gravy works well. See our guide on how to give a dog mushroom powder.

Does the mushroom matter?

The by-weight scoop applies across single mushrooms and blends. What changes is which mushroom you choose for your goal:
