Mushroom Supplements for Cats: A Simple Starter Guide

Mushroom Supplements for Cats: A Gentle Starter Guide

Functional mushrooms get talked about mostly with dogs — but cats can enjoy them too. If you're a cat owner curious about adding mushroom nutrition to the bowl, here's a clear, no-pressure introduction.

Can cats have functional mushrooms?

Yes — the functional mushrooms used in our pet line (turkey tail, lion's mane, and the Super 7 blend) are made for dogs and cats. They're clean, single-ingredient or blended extracts, third-party tested, with no fillers or flavours. For what to look for when choosing, see our guide to the best mushroom supplements for dogs. (As always, we're talking about tested functional mushroom extractsnever wild mushrooms.)

Which mushroom for which cat?

How much for a cat?

Our serving is by body weight — 1 level scoop per 5 kg (about 10 lb) — and most cats are well under that, so you'll be giving a small fraction of a scoop. Start with a tiny amount, build up slowly, and adjust for your cat's size and age.

Serving a fussy cat (most cats)

Cats can be famously particular, so go gentle:

  • Start with a pinch mixed thoroughly into wet food.
  • Add a little moisture — a splash of water or our Goat Milk + Colostrum topper.
  • Increase slowly over a couple of weeks so the new taste and smell aren't a shock.

Honest expectations

Mushroom supplements are about daily wellness support, not a treatment for any condition. Cats also have some unique sensitivities, so it's especially worth a quick word with your vet before starting — particularly if your cat is on medication or has a health condition.
